After high school, many students enroll in college. Others go on to jobs. The worst thing that can occur is for students to get lost in a world of idleness, video games or isolation while they “figure out” the next steps. One thing all 18- 22-year-olds have in common is that they require postsecondary training and opportunities to achieve their dreams.
The iCan Dream Transition Program creates a space for students, along with their family, to DREAM about how postsecondary life will look. Whether a student is interested in community college, competitive employment, or further vocational training, each student is linked to the services they need along with the individualized, therapeutic wraparound supports necessary for their success.
Students participating in this program benefit from continuing to develop functional skills while also getting the benefit of paid vocational experience within the community. In addition, students are provided recreational opportunities purposed to enhance social skills while enjoying fun activities with peers. Our team maximizes the energy and enthusiasm that characterizes emerging adulthood in planning weekly outings, events, and experiences for our students. We are passionate and have fun while changing lives!
Our students are placed in community internships that match their interests and skills. We have dozens of community partners that expand with evolving student interest. We remain relevant by continuing to grow! Some of our most frequent placements are car dealerships, salons, daycares, pet groomer, an art gallery, libraries, and a comic bookstore.
The iCan Dream Center houses its own Certified Nursing Assistant Program. PROJECT THRIVE prepares youth to become licensed Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs). Qualified students are provided 100 hours of specially paced classroom training, 20 hours of clinical experience, and soft skills vocational workshops. It is the goal of the program that youth evolve through PROJECT THRIVE with a sense of purposed confidence to serve society through the medical industry and make a difference in the lives of patients across the healthcare system.
