Be the Creator

Piece of Advice: You are a creator. You do not need permission to innovate. Nothing in this world just happens. Someone must be the one who did it. The person who does it becomes legendary. Create your own path from your heart.

There is an entire universe around you that wants you to fulfill your personal legend. You know what it is. It comes easy to you like playing with dogs or solving problems in the world that bother you deeply.  Let me tell you what that personal legend is not. It is not what people tell you to do to gain status and wealth. Status and wealth are great things. Do not mistake my message to you. Status and wealth are amazing things. Status and wealth can give you the power of influence. However, it is important that you pursue a path that you love so furiously that even if it required all your resources, and yielded only a modest life, you would be happy.

Now once you decide to have faith in your heart’s desires, you have successfully chosen a sustainable path. Your journey will be difficult. At times you may face impossible odds. At times you will fail miserably. When these times come, and they will, it is the furious love for what you are doing that will sustain you. It will drive you like the spirit of God drives the child to play, or like a parent to protect their own child. It will give you the strength to fight longer than what is possible, lift what is heavier than possible, and persist when you are operating in complete darkness without help or direction. These are the benefits of having chosen a path with your heart. You will find creativity in the deepest parts of yourself.

Zora Neal Hurston, Ray Charles Robinson, Richard Pryor, Jean Michel-Basquiat, Dave Chappel, Kanye West, Josephine Baker, Dora Dean. These are all names that appear in this text with absolute disregard to the formality of proper essay and sentence structure. It is perhaps more important to me, to impose upon you the gravity of these names. Whether or not you agree with them, examine any of their lives and careers and you will witness nothing less than legendary status, persistence, and a path that you can trace back to the heart. Evidence of their heart leading them is in the pain that they endured to realize the legacy that they’ve left behind. They all dealt with people who were mounted up like a mass choir telling them no. None of them were so powerful that they silenced this massive choir. Each of them loved what they were doing so much, that they outlasted the dissonance of their hearts and what the world gave them the space to create.
